The ideal Bromine level is between 4 parts per million (ppm) and 6 ppm.
Test the Bromine level in your spa daily and immediately before every use.
Test the Water:
Before adding bromine, use a test strip or kit to check the current sanitizer level. The ideal bromine level for hot tubs is typically between 3-5 ppm (parts per million).
Add Bromine Tablets:
Place the recommended number of bromine tablets into a floating dispenser or skimmer basket. This allows for slow, continuous release as the water circulates.
Allow Bromine to Dissolve:
Whether using tablets or granules, let the bromine dissolve completely and circulate in the water. Avoid adding bromine directly to the water without circulation to prevent damage to your hot tub surfaces.
Monitor and Adjust Levels:
Check the bromine levels after a few hours to ensure they are within the desired range. If the level is too low, add more bromine. If it's too high, allow the levels to decrease naturally or dilute the water by partially draining and refilling the hot tub.
Regular Maintenance:
Replenish bromine tablets as needed, typically every 3-7 days, depending on usage. For bromine granules, adjust the amount as necessary after each use or when levels dip.
Shock the Water (Optional but Recommended):
Periodically shock your hot tub with a bromine-compatible oxidizer to remove contaminants, restore sanitizer efficiency, and keep the water clear. This is usually done every 1-2 weeks, or after heavy use.
